ICG for preoperative estimation of hepatic functional reserve

Abstract
The study was induced to evaluated a preoperative estimation of residual hepatic functional reserve after hepatic resection on primary liver cancer.
Indocyanine green(ICG) clearance were studied in eleven patients of hepatic resection for primary liver cancers operated at the Pusan Gospel Hospital during the two years period from 1990 to 1991.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1. ICG-Rmax is more sensitive than ICG-R15 in compare to concomitant cirrhosis and noncirrhosis.
2. The criteria of hepatic lobectomy are below 10min in ICG-R15 and above 1mg/kg/min in ICG-Rmax.
3. One patient was expired after right lobectomy with normal level of ICG-Rmax but residual liver volume is very small volume(350gm) and concomitent cirrhosis.
It is suggested that ICG was thus found to be sensitive predictor of preoperative estimation of hepatic functional reseve.
